Preus Museum

With its extensive collection of both national and international matters, the museum covers all aspects of the history of photography. The museum has two galleries with temporary exhibitions; a basis exhibition and a specialist library of international standard. A national centre for the preservation of photographs, which offers expertise in the treatment and preservation of photographic material.

Preus Museum is located in the idyllic Cultural Park, Karljohansvern in Horten. The museum building, which was previously a grain store for the Royal Norwegian Navy, dates back to the 1860s and was adapted for museum purposes in 2001 by architect Sverre Fehn. 

It is possible to buy a cup of coffee or the from the reception. 

 

Fjøsnissens Verden – Family Park

Welcome home to the home of Fjøsnissen. Experience theater, animals and play in a fun place that takes you back in time. It is just big enough for adults to enjoy themselves while the children play freely. Fjøsnissen invites you to a festive theater in the barn – and here anything can happen! (The theatre is in Norwegian language)

Tickets are purchased at the entrance.

Cuddling with the animals

On the farm you can meet rabbits, alpacas, sheep, goats, pigs, pot-bellied pigs, hens, chickens, ducks and peacocks.

Food and drink

Feel free to bring your own food – on the farm there are hot grills for free use. In the area there are several benches and tables where you can enjoy lunch. The farm has its own kiosk with a selection of food and drinks.

RS Noatun

Horten Apartment

Horten Apartment with its 35 rooms is a modern living concept with low prices. Horten Apartment offers tasteful rooms with a fully equipped mini kitchen, private bathroom, a comfortable bed, a good chair, a desk and a wardrobe, for long and short term rentals for both private individuals and companies.

From June 2025, Horten Apartment will increase its capacity to 88 rooms/apartments. All rooms have their own kitchen and private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Bed linen and towels. Kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and stovetop, as well as cutlery, crockery and pots.

Løvøya Oslofjord

Camping

Løvøya Oslofjord has more than 100 caravan spaces spread over 8 different, beautiful terraced areas. Most have seaview and a power in reasonable proximity. Each of the areas has toilet facilities, and is located near modern sanitary facilities. In addition, there are separate areas all over the site for motorhomes, caravans and tents for short-term stays. These pitches are close to the sea, close to modern sanitary facilities, The café and swimming areas. The area Furulund on Løvøya has Horten's most affordable 24-hour places.

In the center of the camping area is the historic Løvøy Chapel with the Olavskilden. This is part of the Pilgrimage route. The place provides a special atmosphere and witness to a place of pilgrimage from very early times. It is also a short distance to Borre Golf Course, Borre Park with its Viking graves and historic centre, and the Horten town centre.

Løvøya Oslofjord is the central hub of the island. Here you can enjoy life with swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, cycling and other activities. Or you can choose the tranquility of silence in a wonderful natural area.

Cabins
Løvøya Oslofjord has two normal cabins and three high-standard Løvhytte-cabins of 28 square meters. The Løvhytte cabin contain 2 bedrooms, one with a family bunkbed, which provides a total of 4-5 overnight places. In addition, the cabins have a large and pleasant loft, shower and toilet. The cabins are also winter-insulated. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, cooker with small oven, microwave and dishwasher. The cabins also have a digital flat screen, broadband and an alarm.

The normal cabins are fully equipped for a maximum of 4 people. Digital TV and options for internet connection. Hot and cold water. Toilet and shower in a new sanitary facility close by.

Café and kiosk
The café and ice cream kiosk on Løvøya is idyllically located by the water and offers a cozy atmosphere with indoor and outdoor service. With a rich selection of delicious dishes and refreshments, this is a perfect meeting point for the guests and visitors. The kiosk has a large selection of ice cream. The café is open every day throughout the summer.

Sauna 
The new sauna is delivered by Oslo Badstueforening, and will remain from 5 July to 31 August. The sauna is beautifully located on the beach, perfect for a refreshing dip. The sauna has self-service and the first hour of the sauna session is for you to fire up the sauna yourself.

Glamping
Løvøya Oslofjord has 7 brand new glamping tents with seaview. Each tent is spacious and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable overnight stay, as comfortable beds with good mattresses, bed linen and pillows. Proximity to modern sanitary facilities ensures easy access to showers and toilets. Here you can really experience the best of both worlds by combining camping and luxury.
